You can expect to have a fun, relaxed time when choosing Amy McWatty Photography. I’m a mom who was just like other moms out there and stressed with the ‘typical’ studio photography session. Baby crying, toddler screaming, and mom about to pull her hair out…which, definitely doesn’t create an environment of calmness and fun that we want to create for everyone. My style with children is so laid back that I try everything in my power to let the child feel like they’re controlling the session. When children are put to the test to perform or do what mom wants them to do, their initial reaction is to do the opposite. So part of the time, we’ll spend getting to know you, playing with my camera, and then playing silly games and such that will bring everything together. Just remember this…I’m a mom. Your screaming toddler or newborn is very normal to me. Your child doesn’t have to be on their best behavior because they have to recognize we’re creating something fun for them. Just go along with letting the child do their thing and…trust me…we’ll get some truly authentic and beautiful photographs.
There are some rules I do have for parents. Please keep your child on their normal routine the evening prior to our photo session and nap before afternoon sessions. Bring snacks, wipes, spare clothing, and small toys that make impact with your child. If your child has food allergies or you don’t want me to sneak them a candy prize, let me know in advance.
