What a Wonderful Year 2011 has been – Amy McWatty Photography

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.  Thank you to my clients for all your love, encouragement and support this year.  You all feel like family to me.  Please enjoy the video from some photographs of the year and sit back and enjoy the simpler things.

Enjoy:)

What’s Going on with Amy McWatty Photography, Columbia, SC

I can already plan my New Year’s Resolution NOW…drum roll, please:)  I need to update my blog more regularly.  And, that’s a fact for sure!!!  The positive side to all of this is that I’ve been busy busy.  Amidst all the changes in our family, I have to say that I’m still in an adjustment period, but, I know in all-too-short of time, I’ll be right in the swing with the new way of life – photography & mommy mode:)  Two great combinations.

For years now, I’ve been in marketing full-time, while doing my photography passion on the side.  I have to admit that I loved my marketing career,  but life just got a bit too hectic with work, hobby, family, church, school, etc – that I gave a big ‘Adios’ to the marketing gig.  I’m certain I’ll miss my paycheck and extra spending, but the amount of time I hope to gain raising our daughter should well make up for it.

Cheers to everyone & Happy Friday in 2 more hours:)

Family Photography in Columbia, SC

I knew immediately when I began talking with this Mom that she “truly’ knew what she was looking for upon hiring me.  Her kindness, excitement and genuine love for her family completely reminded me what everything I do is all about.  Once our conversation ended, I knew that our session was going to be incredible because our goals were united.  And, these are just a few of the emotional captures we got from the day.

Fall in Bloom – Columbia, SC Baby Photographer

One thing that continues to motivate me and remind me of why I’m in this business to begin with, is the opportunity of working with existing client families with the addition of a new child or to update their family photography portfolio.

I’ve enjoyed working with this family for the last couple years and now their family is complete with the addition of sweet Miss A.  They’re now a family of four and I couldn’t be more proud to be part of it all.

 P.S. – Lovin’ the Fall Colors for the photography backdrop.

Kid’s Stuff

I remember my first blog all about ‘mommy & kids stuff’.  I truly don’t know why I ever stopped writing about my mommy loves. Below was what it might have been like.  Only in short form:)  I’ve really been missing out -    talking about the latest clothing or skincare / product find for kids…so, I think I’ll start writing about that again, while posting my photography.

(1) This one is my all time FAV.  Still using it at 5 years old because I refuse to abuse her skin:)

(2) Sunscreens – Check out the two below.  I have to thank my cousin, Lins for the Alba recommendation.  Cheaper, than the one  below that I’ve been using since my daughter’s birth.  California Baby… has never irritated my daughter’s eyes, so I’m sold on this one:)

he’s got personality {Columbia, SC Family Photographer}

How appropriate the post title is for this little youngster.  He was so full of energy & life that it just made the session as fun as ever!  His smile could light up the whole park & with no effort at all!  His mama has definitely done hime right because he certainly loves anything & everything.  I could have played with him forever.  My most favorite time of all was when we ended up in an area with water & he found a stick and role played like he was fishing in a pond.  Before I knew it he’d spotted goldfish which made his make-shift fishing pole oh-so-appropriate!  While I was taking these photographs it reminded me of why I do this, anyway.  Because these moments don’t last forever…

Here are a couple of my favorites.  Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving to All!

mommy’s little boy {Columbia, SC Family Photographer}

The title of this post comes from the sincere love between a little boy and his mother.  I see those same moments between my daughter and her daddy, and the bond reminds me of how important it is for our children to have their mommy and daddy together to create those bonds that so naturally occur.

When we first started our session Little E was clingy to his mother and after a while it just turned out to make the session oh, so beautiful!  There will come a time when we won’t have photographs of such emotional times, and to capture those moments for a parent to appreciate twenty years from now makes me very Thankful!

Here are two photographs for this sweet Mommy to see as a quick sneak-peek.  I hope you enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

Mister C {Columbia, SC Children’s Photographer}

I’ve had the pleasure of working with this little one since he was about a year old.  And, ever since then he’s always had these special little ways that he lights up the camera.  Here’s just one of them.

Trendy Toddler {Columbia, SC Children’s Photographer}

Today reminded me exactly why I chose to photograph other children and families.  My daughter has had numerous photographers work with her and there’s only a few who truly know how to work with kids.  This little bundle of energy and delight reminded me exactly how I remember my own daughter at his age.  It brought back so many wonderful memories and I’m so thankful that I was able to be part of it all today with this family.

I decided to post one quick photograph from today that I really loved.  I have to tell you that this little man with his dark brown eyes and light blonde hair really melted me.  And, in this particular photograph you can see all of that and his adorable attire – perfect with coat & boots!

Right about the time we start thinking about Halloween, all Moms start stressing about Christmas.  It’s not neccessarily all about the gifts and such, but merely everything we have to do to get prepared for Christmas:  Greeting Cards, Turkey & more food, Church Functions, Family Gatherings, Holiday Work Parties, and more…the list goes on and on…
